- Winters: expected pCO₂ = 1.5 × HCO₃⁻ + 8 ± 2 (metabolic acidosis)
- Metabolic alkalosis: expected pCO₂ = 0.7 × HCO₃⁻ + 20 ± 5
- Resp acidosis: acute +1 HCO₃⁻ / +10 pCO₂; chronic +3.5 / +10
- Resp alkalosis: acute −2 HCO₃⁻ / −10 pCO₂; chronic −5 / −10
- VBG rough shift: pH −0.03, pCO₂ +5 vs ABG
- Alveolar gas: PAO₂ = FiO₂ × (Pb − PH₂O) − PaCO₂/RQ
- AG = Na − (Cl + HCO₃⁻); corrected AG = AG + 2.5 × (4 − albumin)
- Delta–Delta = (AG − 12) / (24 − HCO₃⁻)
- ROME: Respiratory Opposite, Metabolic Equal
